Signs You Need Remove Toxic People from your Life
This is always a big topic of discussion. Letting go of toxic people in your circle. You may not even consider them toxic, but something just isn’t fully right. It’s not always easy to end a friendship or a relationship, but sometimes these unhealthy relationships can take a toll on our wellbeing. It's hard to know when to draw the line, but there are certain signs that indicate it's time to remove toxic people from your life, especially if it begins to effect you negatively. The company you keep is important for more than just going out and having a good time — it affects the rest of your life. So when can we start factoring people out of our lives?
1. There’s No room for Compromising: It’s okay to disagree with someone from time to time, but if they’re completely stuck in their way and not letting up, you may not be a good pair. If you’ve discussed the issue or problem numerous times and the person cannot or will not try to change the dynamic, it’s time to part ways.
2. Your needs Aren’t being Met: Everyone has different ideas of what a friendship or relationship entails, but we all have basic needs, and sometimes these can change over time. "When the person you’re in a relationship with just doesn’t have the capacity to respond to what your needs and wants are, the well is dry.
3. You’re not being Prioritized: “Toxic people” always put other things and other people in front of you, leaving you feeling unloved and uncared for. If someone doesn’t take the time out for you and leaves you feeling a certain way , it may be time to cut the relationship short.
4. Your relationships is Unequal: Whether it’s with your friends, someone you are dating, or a co-worker, a relationship shouldn’t be one-sided. This means you shouldn’t always be the giver — or the receiver for that matter. Look for relationships of equanimity.
5. People try to put you Down: Toxic people will prey on your vulnerabilities to try to lower your self-esteem. "Surround yourself with others who complement you and compliment you.
6. Conversations are Passive Aggressive: Conversations should be straightforward and honest, not weighed down with hidden insults.
7. People are Jealous of You: Your friends should be inspired by your accomplishments, not jealous. Be aware of this trait so you don’t take it seriously and let it undermine what you’ve accomplished.
Often times, being around toxic people leads to self destructive behavior that can really be damaging to you and your well-being. Although no one is responsible for your own actions, you want to spend time with people who encourage you to have healthy habits. It can be hard to cut people out of your life, but you have to make a decision that is best for both your mental, physical, and spiritual health.
